I've had this plant for several years and have never known what it is. It is not looking too healthy so I figured the perfect place to start was to figure out what it is. The plant is blooming like crazy. Any ideas would be appreciated. The leaves are about 5 in. long and 1/2- 3/4 in. wide. The blossoms are around 1/4 in in size. Also, what could the spots on the leaves be?

Thanks!

it is a croton, and the spots on the leaves are supposed to be there. Crotons live like weeds here in South Florida. They are quite "hardy' here, in zone 10. They are susceptible to aphid and fungus, but if given plently of good sunlight and air circulation, should do well. I'd repot and give it loamy, sandy soil, a tad of fertilizer, and more light. Crotons naturally have spots of shades of yellow, greens, and beiges, reds. They are also quite toxic, so avoid the white sap. They propagate easily by stem cuttins with root tone and a touch of liquid superthrive. Keep cutting warm. :)

Thanks! I thought it was a croton but I was so used to seeing them with larger leaves and more coloring. Glad to know I am growing a weed. I guess "one man's trash is another man's treasure" applies to houseplants, eh?
