Probagating Dracaena Options

I have a Dracaena that I would like to try to propogate vegetatively. It has only a central stem (trunk) and no branches. Is there a way I can split the central stem and create new branches and thus get branches to use to take cuttings to make a new plant? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
