I got a basket of plants last August or September, there were 4 plants in the basket. Birds Foot Ivy, African violet, Syngonium and What I thought was Crotins. I cannot find Crotins in the database, but in my mom's "THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK OF HOUSE PLANTS" the plant that most closely looks like it is Crotins. It is dying. I would like to know what I can do to save this plant. Thank you.

They're called Croton, I hate those gift basket arrangements because they have no drainage and florists will often put plants together that have different light and water requirements. I would pull the thing apart and re-pot the plants in new pots with drainage. The croton probably got too much or too little water (they don't like either). Don't feel bad if it dies, focus on keeping the live ones healthy. Gift baskets are designed to be enjoyed temporarily, so if some of the plants survive, you should feel good about that.

Previous poster is exactly right! By the way, Crotons require full sun.
