I did not get any responses to my original post so I am reposting. I still am not sure what this plant is for sure; partly because I have read that plants from the croton family are toxic yet I have known a number of puppies and one cat that have chewed on it without any harm comimg to them.
I need some help and advice on caring for this plant I inherited.
This plant was given to me by the family of a women that I did home care for. I took care of the woman for 12.5 years and when she died, 3 years a go, I inherited this plant.
I have never known it to have been repotted and am wondering how to do it. I'm not even sure what the plant is but I think it is a Joseph's Coat Croton plant.
It is about 3 feet tall, with thick, fiberous leaves. The leaves are green and orange in color, and the stem is more like a trunk. The stem is woody and has bark but it is only about half an inch in diameter.
I have pictures of it at http://www.flickr.com/photos/40139076@N07/3692328381/
Thank you for your help.
