I've heard several say their plant has never had a flower after having the plant for years. I've had 6 flowers on mine in the last 2 months and it doesn't seem to quit. I'm getting lots of leaves on it, too, but what's up with all these flowers?
I've had some flowers that open up for awhile and then close back up and I don't know if I should cut them off or what. The pod remains green. Someone said to leave until the flower had browned but how can I tell if the goofy thing has closed back up. LOL
Some say the plant dies after flowering but I've not found this to be true and I've also heard it will sprout a new plant at the base but I've not seen that either.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks a bunch.

I have had a Dumb Cane (Dieffenbachia) in my indoor garden for several years that came from a small potted arrangement. I don't do anything for it, it just grows. It blooms profusely every summer. When the bloom dies, turns brown, and droops, I just cut it off. I don't know if this is correct or not, but it has worked for me. It also has put out several new shoots from the roots. So many so, that I cut off all but five (5) stalks earlier this summer, and now have two (2) new shoots starting from the roots. It is a beautiful plant about 34" tall and growing. I would post a picture if I knew how.

Your plant sounds like a very happy plant to have so many stalks appearing for you. I heard that after this flowering period that new stalks will appear. We'll see.
I got mine at Home Depot in the middle of the winter in MI at some plant sale. It was really a mess. It had a lot of leaves but so many of them were ripped, had holes in them, etc, apparently from the rough handling. (I sat it in the front seat of my car and put my seat belt around it.) LOLOLOL When I got home, I cut off all those torn leaves, about 7 of them all 12". Apparently it made the plant happy as it turned around and gave me back twice that many.
