Hello, I am new to the plant/gardening world. I am wanting to get into growing some flowers indoors to spruce up my apartment. Does anyone have any suggestions on some nice colorful flowers that are easy for a newbie to care for?
Thanks!

I'm actually VERY new to the plant world myself. I only have a total of eight plants (one is actually aquatic). I'm also only 19, but I do have one plant that I alternate from indoors and outdoors. I've had a Gardenia bush for about two years now, and I know that it can flower fairly well inside the house (with the help of fertilizer). But if that fails, it makes for a VERY excellent outside plant.

You should ask a florist. He will give you the best recommendations. I know a good Toronto floristwho gave me some ideas. I like very much the cactus...

I'm new to this too, but I do highly recommend a peace lily. It's real easy to take care of, they're known to make the air cleaner and they bloom pretty cool flowers. I have 3 flowers about to bloom right now. The other one I recommend is a zebra plant. (not sure of the real name) but these have some cool flowers too.

I agree with the person who said cactus, because cactus is extremely fuss-free, requires minimum care, but the thing is cactus flowers bloom after long periods, and you have to buy the right 'breed'.
If you're a newbie, i would highly suggest getting some plants first, to experience what its like to take care of plants, and then move on to flowers, because MOST flowers require constant care with the right amount and quality of water, soil, fertilizers, pruning, misting, etc etc. Plants are extremely colourful and mostly fuss free to an extent. How about something from the dracaena family or a cactus, they are the easiest to care for, IMO.

You should ask a florist. In Treatment dvd series is one of the most amazaing shows i have got it to, its a cross among Friday Night Lights series dvd, Sex and the City series dvd and Spartacus Blood And Sand series dvd. Trust me if you watch one of them you will be hooked.
