Hi, I'm new to the whole plant world and recently went to Lowes and bought a Pothos ( Marble Queen). 2 Ivy plants ( California fan, and Millenium). and one Jade Plant.. i gotta say i bought them bcz i thought maybe they'd help the air in our home.. Since the tab that came with the Pothos said low light, i took it and hung it in my room, its not next to a window, its about 20 feet from a window, but i always leave the blinds open. I brought the plant downstairs today and was looking at it, and some of the leaves on the end of the branch are curling up. is that normal?it that new growth? or is it dying? one of the leaves also turned completely yellow :(. i know that can't be good.
any help i can get i would really apperciate it. i know i'm new to this stuff and i have been reading about the plants i bought and i certainly don't want them to die! :)..

i also just found this on my plant. isn't this a bug of some sort?? how so i get rid of it??

Welcome to gardening! The leaves at the end of the vine is new growth. Every once in a while one of the leaves on my plant will turn yellow and fall off. I don't know what causes it, but as long as they don't all turn yellow it should be fine. I can't really tell in the picture what the 'bug' is, it's a little out of focus. Just remove it, but it could be part of the new growth peeling back. I don't know what the light conditions are in your room, but usually the light is not as bright to a plant as it appears to be to us. If your plant starts to become very leggy and thin, you may want to move it closer to the light and rotate it from time to time. Golden pothos are usually pretty hardy plants, but you may not see a significant amount of new growth so far away from the window. If you decide to take your plant outside in the spring, make sure you acclimate to the outdoors. (Put it in cool shade for a couple days.) This plant does not like full, direct sunlight outside. It will burn up the leaves. Find a place with bright, indirect light or early morning/late evening sun.

you may wish to read the bit I added to the post in the General Discussion under "introduction to my babies" were I left some information about Philodendron and "pothos" Epipremnum as well as the post I added to "Dieffenbachia - bumps on stalk?" in the pest category.

Your pothos looks healthy to me but the one pic you have of the fuzzy white stuff on the root nob looks troubling. If you seen any more fuzzy white stuff on any part of the plant you may have mealy bug. The safest treatment for mealy bug is neem oil. Google dynagrow, they have a pure form that you can dilute and spray on your plant to smother the mealy. It's helpful to try to rinse as much of the bugs off as you can beforehand, either in a large sink or the tub. If you have a shady area outside you can reach with a hose, that will work too. Never expose your pothos to direct sun if you can help it.

Maybe it's just the picture but that white fuzzy bit looks a lot like mealy, if it wipes off easily there's probably more on the plant and it can spread to your other plants quickly so I recommend treatment as soon as possible.

There is also the possibility that the bump on the plant is a root growing from the vine. My pothos has a lot of them. They are for attaching itself to trees.
