Hi all! So glad to have found such a wonderful group. Hope someone can help me.
My husbands mom passed away last week. As tradition has it we have been gifted so many flowers and plants. I have never had plants and have NO idea what to do or how to properly care for them. I want to take the very best care of them possible for my husband.
I don't even know what kind they are! There are 2 rather large ones potted and inside baskets. I'd say 3 feet tall, very large shiny leaves, and white flower blooming at the tip of a few of them. Some sort of lily I assume.
Then I have a glass bowl (no drain holes) approx 11 inches in diameter potted with a few different types of greenery.
Last I have a huge basket that has individual potted plants inside. There's a piece that looks like ivy vine kindof. Some tall greenery that looks like blades of grass. Then, some sort of fern looking thing. Wish I could post pictures here. Can we post pitures? hmmm...
Anyway, it's been a week now and I'm brining these things into our home. Do they need water? How much? How do I water without making a mess, will it not drip all over? You can tell I have no idea where to start in caring for these precious plants.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, what an introduction to plants! The lily like plant is probably a peace lily. Very easy to grow. Many offices have them because they do well with little care. Medium light and keep moist. The large ones in the baskets sound like rubber plants, but not sure. Like good light and keep moist too. Ferns like filtered light, like through a sheer curtain and humidty. The blades of grass, hmmmmmmmmmm. Good guess, water when you can feel dryness, put finger in soil, if 3/4 dry water. Yes, post pics.
