Hi,

I've recently bought a Codonanthe Crassifolia and it's growing from the top of a tube, more or less made to resemble a log, which in turn is 'planted' in a regular flower pot. Can anyone tell me what role this is playing? Would the tube be absorbing water from the soil inside the regular outer pot? What is such a set-up called, and could the plant be grown in an ordinary flower pot?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions or comments,

Thanks very much....
