Hi everybody!

I was walking in a forest in Vienna and I found this plant in a little lake which I have no clue what it is! Could someone hep me, please?

Here the pictures:

It's as thick as s finger, and only grows under the water, not out of it (at least the specimens I found)

Thank you very much in advance!

Very interesting. It actually looks like stag horn coral.

well, hehe, it does indeed! Pity there are not freshwater corals!^^

I actually find it more similar to some marine algae rather than freshwater one, but I'm not sure...well, I'm not even sure it's a plant and not some sponge or bryozoo!

Ok, I was checking other pages and I came to discover that it is actually NOT a plant, but a SPONGE!

It is called Spongilla lacustris, and is rather common after all ^^

Thank you in any case!
