I acquired this plant from work about a year or so ago.

When i aquired it the trunk was very floppy and it diddn't stand up on it's own. It was in a rusty old tin. I re-potted it and tied it to a stake, fed it and have it in front of a window getting some indirect sunlight. I've noticed that the stem up near the top is starting to get green instead of brown lately and I think that's a good sign. Also, it stands up on it's own now and all the leaf growth at the bottom is new since I rescued it.

Aside from trying to identify the plant I have another question. I just got back from Florida this past weekend and I saw quite a few plants that I think were the same in the hotel i stayed in. The stems were quite green and the leaves were a darker green, but other than that they looked pretty similar. I noticed though that most of them had been cut back at some point, meaning the top of the stem was cut off. I also noticed that a lot of new stems had popped out an inch or so below where it was cut. Is this something I should consider doing ?

Thanks for any info you can provide.
