Hi,

I just wondered if anyone could tell me whether it's ok to cut off the dry brown tips of leaves of houseplants such as dracaena, palms, weeping fig etc.?

And any ideas about what causes them in the first place?

Thanks very much!

It is ok to cut off the tips of the plants to make them look better, usually tghat is caused by either underwatering or overwatering of the plant.

Brown leaf tips are a generic symptom with multiple possible causes including improper watering, excess fertilizing, using hard water, and inadequate light. If the tipping is minor, ignore it and chalk it up to not being able to do everything perfectly. If it is excessive, then you will have to determine the cause otherwise it will continue to progress.
