Hey guys,

I believe the plant I have is Devil's Ivy. I've had it for 15 years. It's a veteran, suffered through many things including being torn up by a cat but it's been in a tranquil environment for the last few years. 2 years ago, it started getting brown spots on its leaves which eventually ended up in the yellowing of the leaves. I cut off the healthy parts, and once they rooted, replanted the Ivy. For two years, it's been fine but now two of the four vines started doing that again. Only the upper portions too, the lower ones were healthy. What's wrong with the plant?

The Window faces the east so I suppose it gets direct sunlight for a few hours in the morning.

Leo,

A couple of observations. Your Pothos is a little short on light because it is off to the side of the window and the sheers are blocking more light than you realize.

Allowing vining plants to grow ever-longer is a common mistake. They should be pruned back after they are a couple of feet long. Eventually, they do what yours is doing. They shed older leave so that it can continue to put out new growth, which is always at the ends of the vines. Without pruning you end up with long strings with all the leaves at the ends. After you prune, you can take the tip cuttings and root them in the base of the existing plant to help fill it out more.

Thanks for replying, so you are saying that this is a normal occurrence?
