I have just acquired an indoor yucca plant that is in tough shape. Some questions:
1. Is a yucca a succulent? 2. If so, should I use potting soil appropriate for a succulent? 3. Can someone provide some general care tips for a yucca (drainage, etc.)? 4. I think there is some sort of fungus (browning, yellowing leaves). Can someone suggest a remedy to this?
If you could, could you please email me directly?
Thanks! --J. Irwin

"Succulent" doesn't really have a very firm description, and in loose terms applies to things that like very good drainage and moderate amounts of water. These fit what the yucca needs, so in that sense it is a "succulent-type of plant" Many will argue applying the term to it, but let them. These same ones probably think the world is flat because they can't see the curve when they look out of their window. If this is Yucca elephantipes (check the picture), the fungus is very hard to control without using chemicals that I am not willing to recommend. Dry air may help to slow the spread, but they will probably always be with you. Derek

Hello
Can anyone help me with advice about caring for my indoor potted yuccas?
Some are okay but others have leaves turning yellow and seem to be dying. I've been warned not to over-water, but maybe I'm going too far the other way? I tried fertilising them with fish fertiliser.
They're not happy though.
Thanks
