I received a bromelaid plant in moss attached to a piece of drfitwood. It is about 8-10" wide and is green with a large red center (the leaves are red, no flower). It came with instructions but I never had a plant like this before and I am not sure how to care for it, since it's not in a pot.

They say to soak the moss every other week and fill the well with water. Do I soak the moss in a pail or just spray it? How do I know if it's getting enough water? Also should I leave some water on the radiator to give it more moisture? I would appreciate some help on this plant, as it is so beautiful and I don't know what is best for it. I do have lots of plants around my home, so I know about plants and how to care for them, but this is something very different for me. Thanks in advance.
