Last summer I purchased 10 African violet plants from the internet, The Violet Barn. All plants are healthy but only one is blooming. It's name is Sparkleberry. The other 9 plants are very full and green a couple have stems and leaves growing straight up. All plants are in self watering pots with wicks. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. They are all on stands by my windows. Thank you.

I have found that violets don't do good in direct sunlight. I usually put my on an east wall area near a window, but not right by a window.

My african violets do splendidly with this care...they are in the water-sensative pots...(by that I mean planted in one which fits into another which contains the water. I fertilize every few months with african violet food. they reside in a westerly window which gets afternoon sun...and are consistently in bloom. If african violets are growing more upright than in a flatter position, it means they are not getting enough light, I have found. Contact me if you need any more help...they are my favorite plants! I have had to do very little. I water my two African Violets every 2-3 days and fertilize monthly but I recently moved them into the window sill which recieves sothern light lasting about 5 hours . Is this too much light? they seem OK but I am also going to use the water -sensitive method since they are recieving so much light. Am I doing the right thing? Help. I've only had them for 4 months and I've heard they don't like to be moved.
