this is a new gift, is this plant poisonous to animals cats and or dogs if chewed on?????

If this is an anthurium (please check pictures on site since several plants have this common name), none of my books report it as poisonous. Other members of the family can give trouble, so it is best not to let your pets near it - each one has an individual metabolism and could be more sensitive than others. Derek
