why would the leaves on the plant be turning yellow?

When peace lilies are well-established in the pot, they tend to fill the whole area with roots. They then need particular care in watering to get all the soil ball moist, and I suspect that parts of the soil are staying dry. Try soaking the whole pot in a bucket of water and see if that helps. Derek
