My peace lily seems to be losing thickness. My leaves have been turning brown and I have been cutting them off but it has not grown in a while. It does not flower anymore. What should I do to keep it alive.

Hi De Ann,
Try ferterlizing. Use a mild solution of Peters every watering. If the plant is in high light it should get a flower every now and again. If the light is too low the flower will never come.

A spath (peace lily) will tell you when it wants a drink. It will start to look like its wilting. Thats when you water. Too much water in low light isn't good. That maybe your brown leaf problem. If its kept too dry in high light the same will occur.

Always water thourghly...in other words give it enough water for the water to be seen in the bottom of the container. Then leave it alone until you begin to see it droop a little.

I have a small peace lily in a vase: I cleaned off all the dirt from the roots, trimmed them and simply placed it in a vase that holds the circumference of the plant base itself. The water level I keep just to the roots and add warm water as needed. So far so good. The main reason for peace lilies to go under is the balance of watering, and they can be touchy if not in the right environment. I also try to mist it every couple of days.
