My son gave me a hydranger for a gift, anyways It came in a pot and the blooms have been deadheaded. I don't know whether the plant it for outside or not.Right now the leaves are turning brown and falling off. I have been keeping it watered. These plants are sold in supermarkets during like Mother's day. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Bernie

Dear Bernie , for the most part hydrana's are hardy, and do better in the ground....if you are in a northerly part of t he country, perhaps late in the fall, you may want to mulch or cover with an old basket for the winter. It should have been put in the ground before now to establish root system and growth, but try it anyway...it may surprize you next spring! Carol

I have a nice large hydraner with quite a few blue flowers. Should I cut the dead flowers off or let them stay on the plant?

My wife and I have a bet on this. We have a Hydranger plant outside that is mid size.I would like to move it to a larger place so it has more room to grow. We live in N.Y. I said the best time to transplant it is now when it is dormit. Because it is winter. She said no to do it in the spring. Who is right Thank you for your time.
