I'm hoping you might be able to help me with something.

My mother recently bought a home in Florida that use to be owned by a couple from India. There were huge beds planted with various things that she has been trying to identify and the neighbors are trying to help but since the couple moved away we don't know much.

She has sent me a plant that the neighbors believe is from India, edible and a delicacy. The leaves are arrowhead shaped with a trim around the edges and the backside have strong dark reddish veins. The plants only get to about 16" -20" , are in direct afternoon sun and have never flowered as far as anyone can remember. I'm hoping that you might be able to assist us in identifying this plant and if not, perhaps direct me to someone who could?

Thank you for any time you can give us...and let me know if I could send 3 small JPGs of the item...thanks!

Sandy, sending the jpgs to me will be the best way - possibly the only way for me - since several things would vaguely fit your description. It is almost vertainly in the anthurium, caladium, elephant ear family, but there are so many ... Send them to derek@horticulturist.com Derek
