A friend had a shown me a photo of a plant in Canada a while ago and now I can't for the life of me remember the name and am having no luck finding it on the web. It looked like a brownish/goldish apple shaped basket skeleton with a red ball or heart hanging inside. Anyone have any idea? I swear I'm not crazy.

My vote is for crazy ! Please contact your friend and then share the answer with me. At that point I will apologize ... ! My only thought is the dog-pecker fungus or stinkhorn. A fungus in the genus Phallus that looks like an egg until a lacy structure develops that sometines has red blobs inside the lacy covering. Not a good guess, though. Please ask your friend and get back to us. Derek
