I love Peace Lilies, but mine is dying. I've kept them out of direct sunlight and water them as recommended, but nothing helps. I started out w/ 2, but since I've had to cut the dead leaves back so much I combined them in 1 large pot. Before long what's left won't fit in a teacup! I hope someone has a magic cure. I mean it's bad when my father-in-law can grow one and I can't!

Hi,
Your peace lily is in the right light, but I'm not sure what you were recommended as far as watering. If the leaves are dying, then there is something going on with the roots. Either dry soil, wet soil, over-potted (pot too big) or overfeeding. You don't want the soil to be wet ALL of the time like you just watered it, or dried out completely. The top inch or two should be allowed to dry out before you apply water again, and when you do water, water it enough so it comes flowing out the bottom getting the entire rootball wet, then get rid of the excess in the saucer. Another thing to keep in mind, the plant will do better in a small pot, one that is only an inch more around than the rootball, less opportunity for rot to set in. If you use hard water, that's one thing can cause tips to brown, in a small pot, the brown tips will show up much less and fertilizing should be limited and diluted. You can also grow these in water.
