It sounds as if you are watering from above. This can cause bruising of the leaves always water an African Violet from the bottom. You can actually take a piece of an old panty hose or a nylon footy put it in your pot at least half way up the pot pulling about an inch through the bottom drain hole then your dirt and plant. the hose will draw water up to the roots without drowning them. I love violets they are very hardy and peaceful. Happy planting.

I have my voilet in a pot that has the saucer like bottom that is separate from the pot. Bought it at Walmart) So I just pour the water in the bottom and it works its way up to the roots. I always use warm water so it doesn't put the plant into shock. My plant was very small and almost dead and since I have started watering from the bottom with warm water it is big and beautiful with over 10 blooms. Good luck with yours.

My mother-in-law has lots of violets. They have started growing small leaves in the center and leaves on the outside are dying.
The small leaves in the center are hard. What is causing this and can the violets be saved. They were so beautiful.
