I recently took a stem cutting from a plant from the teaching greenhouse at school and i'd like any help in finding out it's name. The leaves are arranged alternatly and whorled. the margins of the leaf are dentate w/quite deep venation(sp?) The stem is round and covered w/BRIGHT violet hairs. The leaves are dark green w/the same bright hairs. The mother plant that I took the cutting from had a rounded habit and was in a hanging basket. It rooted w/out any hormone quite well and has an unimportant flower beginning to bud. There is new growth that is emerging and the new growth is purple and not green. The leaves remind me of am African Violet in texture and softness. Anyone?

I think that it may be GYNURA. The flower bud, by the way, will make its presence felt when it flowers - it stinks!!
