I've got "white fuzz" on many of my various plants. What is this stuff and how do I get rid of it? Thanks, Dan

You might want to touch the fuzz and see if it hops! I had the same thing and found out that there are actually small, fuzzy, little bugs called leaf hoppers. I am told my the horticulaturist that left alone they can get into the root system of your plants and kill them. There are sprays that you can purchase to kill them.

Mealy Bug- is one of about eight sucking insects that infest plants. The above reply is partially correct. It does migrate and caution should be taken. Make sure you don't transmit the insect via your hands, tools, watering cans anything that you use on the infected plant should be disinfected prior to contact with another plant.

Mealy bugs is the correct diagnosis. Many infestations can be rather easily cleared up with a simple soap and water solution. You can spray the affected plants and then rinse the plant well, as soap will also kill the plant if it sits on the roots for too long. Or you could just carefully wash the plant as you would your hands. (Making sure to rinse the plant well following.)

p.s. The white stuff is the little bugs as well as their webbing.

F.Y.I.--- The larger the bugs are, the longer your plant has been infested because the larger bugs are the older bugs. They breed on the plant and their eggs are in the webbing. (The soap will kill the eggs, too. If you wash and rinse well enough... there should be no sign of the bugs after you're done.)
