I was given a corn plant. I do not know how to care for it. It was a funeral gift, so no card with plant care was present. Thank you for any advice I can get.

I have had a corn plant for years. I water only when the top couple inches of soil are dry. Add water just until it drains out of the bottom. Discard the drained water; do not let the plant sit in water, it can lead to root rot. Let the plant get INDIRECT sunlight. I have mine across the room from a window and it seems to be enough. The best thing to do is just leave them alone. Water when needed, give it light and you shouldn't have any problems. Just don't over-water! The stalks will start to feel soft or mushy when you are over-watering. It can be very difficult to recover a plant that has been over-watered so just follow the watering instructions above. Those watering rules actually apply to most house plants.
