I was given a plant by someone and told the wrong name for it. No-one else I have asked knows what it is. It has leaves that are kind of oval except for a large sort of split in them. The plant also gets long brown growths from the stalk which do not seem to do anything but grow longer and longer. If you could help it would be appreciated and is there any way to give someone a piece to start growing their own?

Thank you

Please have a look at the monstera pictures (these are old plants with big leaves so you may have to use your imagination. If this is what it is, the long brown things are roots trying to reach the soil.
You can make more by cutting up the stem into lengths that include a couple of leaves and sticking these into soil Most will grow and your parent plant will make new shoots. Derek
