I have three plants started from the top of a pineapple. Two have now grown fruit. When is it time to harvest? I also notice new growth of what appears to be buds. Can one plant produce more than one fruit? These are in planters and brought inside each winter due to Georgia winter weather temptures. The two with fruit are about six years old and this is the first year with fruit. The fruit appear to be almost as big as store size.

They will be very good to eat for sure when you can get a nice strong aroma of pineapple by sniffing them. The plant will make new plants at its base after the fruit is taken off - I don't think it will make another fruit, but I don't know what the breeders may have been able to achieve. You have certainly done a great job. Derek

We have grown a pineapple also. It took over 2 years but, last week we finally cut the pineapple off the plant and ate it. We are also see new plants coming close to the base of the stalk. Do we cut the original stalk way back to make room for the other new plants that are starting to grow or should we just leave it alone?
