I was given an African Palm tree,or at least that is what Iwas tiold. Thay also told me to water it only once a month with 5-7 ice cubes and nothing else. It seemed to get stressed and dry sio I began giving it water every couple days or so. It looks much better now. I was hoping you could give me some information on this plant and how I should care for the plant.

Thank you, B

Geez, 5-7 ice cubes a month? No way is that enough water for most if not all plants.I have palms but never heard of that one right off. With palms, they like to be on the moist side at all times, but don't water it everyday, that is too much water, or maybe not enough if your not watering it thoroughly to keep it going through the week. If it is really some kind of palm, water it long and deep enough so it comes out the bottom, soak it real good, a big or small plant, then, empty any excess water so it's not sitting in it, or the roots can rot. After watering it, don't give it water again until the top inch or two of the soil feels close to dry. That may mean watering it really well every week to two weeks, none in between should be needed. I wouldn't fertilize it now if it's not yet looking healthy.
