I have a fairly old Bird of Paradise, where do I need to have it inside? how much light? what kind of soil? we live at 7300 ft above sea level and are considered a high plain desert. I have tried everything with this plant and have never had a bloom. Thank you Martha

Give your BOP lots' of direct light, but if it's not use to that, do it gradually so the leaves won't burn.
Use regular soil that is well draining (add amenities like Perlite and sand with a little peat added a balanced fertilizer (half strength) BOP can be a challage when it comes to flowering indoors.I have one that's about eight years old (white) and it's never flowered and might not ever either, and the white are supposed to flower more easily than the orange/purple a greenhouse owner told me(he sold both) But that's ok, the leaves alone are beautiful. Everything I have read about this plant says if they do flower, it would be 7 years from seed.
