I recieved a beautiful fern plant from my son last night for Christmas. It is the most precious gift I could have recieved from him. I never want it to die like the ferns I have tried to grow. Can somebody please tell me when and how much water, it requires. And how much and what kind of sunlight? Thank you D. Isley

Ferns do well in indirect light (no direct sun) in the summer months. A north curtain-less window is fine, or where it will get dapple light. It can take a little more light in the winter months without worrying about the leaves burning.
Keep the soil evenly moist, so, when the top 1/2 to 1 inch of the soil feels "almost or close to dry" using your finger, it's time to water. Water it well until it comes out the drainage holes, letting it drain out or dump it out, away from the plants roots.
If some of the fronds start to get crispy and brown, just pull them off. The tips can do this as well from low humidity Just keep it cleaned up and it should do well. You will always have some browning, but it will show less and less as time goes by, so it can still look beautiful!
Use fertilizer 1/4 to 1/2 strength of what is recommended on the package in the warmer months, none in winter.
