In the winter months, most plants slow or stop growing all together. They grow better when their roots are a little on the root-bound side and not swimming in a pot that's too large, which can also cause root-rot.
Water the soil enough so it comes out the bottom and empty any excess, then allow it to dry out between waterings. Keep slightly drier during the winter months. They do well in medium to bright indirect light but can also have a small amount of sun, but, too much sun can burn the leaves, while too low a light can cause small leaves, big spaces between leaves and slow growth. Use an all purpose fertilize now and then at half strength in the spring and summer months, no fertilizer in winter.
