I received a fern for a gift a year ago and it is very messy to keep up with. The leaves are always falling off and always seems dry. Is it possible to cut back a fern? What are the best conditions to maintain this house plant?

Thankyou

It dependa a little on what type of fern it is - my gues is that it is a type of boston fern. You can cut this one back, but it will be ugly for a time. Keep the soil moist but not very wet, and growth will be best in a place with good light and moist air. Out side for the summer would probably be good. Derek
