Hello, I have a ficus tree that over the past 5 years has been loosing it's leaves progressively. Today it is nearly bear and now has little tiney webs at each joint of it's branches. What do you recommend I do?

If you want to try and save your tree, you'll need to spray the entire plant down until it's dripping wet getting every inch, including under the leaves and joints with a soapy water solution, or, you can add about an inch of rubbing alcohol to a spray bottle, the rest tepid water which should kill off any pest if that;'s what your dealing with. If you miss any of them over the weeks to come, they can re-infest all over again. In any case, it will take some time and patients on your part.
Spray the tree down inside the bathtub or with something like a tarp put down underneath the tree because things will get wet. Do this once a week for a few weeks. if you have pest, either solution should kill them off.
Keep your tree in bright indirect light. keep the soil slightly moist letting the top couple inches or so dry between watering, just don't over-water now with so many leaves gone. Don't fertilize now. Only in the growing season (half strength) and only if the plant is growing well and look healthy.
Never feed anything that appears stressed or weak plant.Give your ficus time to recover, and also keep an eye out for pest, with any luck, you will see new growth soon.

I have a ficus tree, occassionally the leaves will look wet with sticky substance that drips to the floor. I thought it is normal. But recently, I talked to a friend and she told me that it means the tree is sick and needs to be treated. Is this true? If yes, how should I treat the problem?
