I have a plant (I think it's called a pineapple palm). It's only about 2' tall w/the base of the "pineapple" practically on top of the soil and it has a few large palm fronds and the smaller/tougher ones have very hard spots on the underside of the leaves - some are larger harder shells than others. Anyway I've just noticed that the table under it and the small rocks on top of the soil are very sticky...I haven't seen any webs and they (the hard shells) don't seem to move. Are these pests? Any suggestions - I've had it for several months and I remember that it has always had spore-like spots on it (the underside of the leaves) which I thought were simply spores...now I'd like to know is this a characteristic of this plant or do I indeed have pests or is it diseased? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
