Hello, I am new to the plant/gardening world. I am wanting to get into growing some flowers indoors to spruce up my apartment. Does anyone have any suggestions on some nice colorful flowers that are easy for a newbie to care for?

Thanks!

I'm actually VERY new to the plant world myself. I only have a total of eight plants (one is actually aquatic). I'm also only 19, but I do have one plant that I alternate from indoors and outdoors. I've had a Gardenia bush for about two years now, and I know that it can flower fairly well inside the house (with the help of fertilizer). But if that fails, it makes for a VERY excellent outside plant.

You should ask a florist. He will give you the best recommendations. I know a good Toronto floristwho gave me some ideas. I like very much the cactus...

I'm new to this too, but I do highly recommend a peace lily. It's real easy to take care of, they're known to make the air cleaner and they bloom pretty cool flowers. I have 3 flowers about to bloom right now.

The other one I recommend is a zebra plant. (not sure of the real name) but these have some cool flowers too.

you can try out poinsettias and peace lilies. Also some varieties of bougainvilleas.

African Violets are fussy, but the flowers are worth it
Orchids such as... Phalaenopsis (moth orchid)
