My backyard is pretty bare. I have no trees, flowers, or plants.

I do have a good patch of dirt to plant something. I've been given a few things to plant, I water them, but after a week - they die.

What types of low maintenance plants or flowers can I plant that won't die after a week?

perhaps you need to check the Ph/acidity of your soil to ensure it's matched to the plants you're trying to grow.

Hey PlantGuy77,

There may be a few things to take into consideration (Ph level being one of them).

What kind of sunlight does your "patch of dirt" get? Are you planting the right kind of plants for the amount of sun that your plant beds get?

Is your soil highly compacted? If so consider renting a small rototiller from a local rental company. Once you've loosened your soil bed add some organic matter (with the rototiller), such as, denatured (I don't know if that is the correct term) cow manure or compost. That worked great in my out door garden (the manure that is)!

Hope it helps.
