I have a croton plant I purchased about a year ago. When I got it home and transplanted it, I realized there were actually three plants in one pot. One didn't look too good and died before too long. The other two are doing okay, but I think I wasn't giving them enough water. One thing I noticed when I pulled the dead plant out: all the plants have some type of cloth around the root ball. I didn't notice it when transplanting. The plants don't seem to be very stable in the soil. Any idea what this cloth would be and why it would be there (air grafting maybe?) I'm just curious now if I should try taking the plants out and removing it.
