Hi, I've been having problems with keeping this Jade from losing all it's leaves and branches. They keep falling off! I posted in the past and took the advice to change the soil. I'm not sure if i'm over watering it. I wait until it's dry and then soak it and remove the extra drained water. The leaves are free of any markings of pest (to my eyes). Is there something specific that i should look for? Here's a link to some pics: http://drop.io/dyingjade111Thanks!

I had a jade that my husband nocked off the table and it broke into pieces. Best thing that ever happened to it. The soil in your photos looks depleted and the photos of the stalks look like there might be rot or a fungus. If this were my plant, I would definitely restart with three new stalks, NEW POT and New Soil. Give it a chance to start new roots from the cutting point. If, where you cut there is more fungus or rot, then it may be something systemic. If so, I would start from even smaller stems until a clear junction appears. It is truly a resilient plant but I would be removing the infection asap if it were my jade. You could actually have three jades if all the main stalks are clear after cutting.
Use 2/3 pebble rock and 1/3 cactus soil in a fresh brand new pot. This worked for me. My jade really loves being in a clay pot. I think it help the roots to breath.

Hi jenricae, I am not sure if you are still having the leaf drop problem or if the jade has even survived but I was wondering what the leaves look like when they fall? Are they still healthy looking? Or all dried and shrivelled? Sounds like you are watering correctly but it really depends on the plants container, location and surrounding air temperature. At rate I hope it's still alive and kicking and here are a couple links about jade plant care and watering that you might find useful. http://www.squidoo.com/jadegardenhttp://www.plantcare.com/encyclopedia/jade-plant-227.aspxGood luck!

You just may as well have clicked a photo of my poor jade plant. Ive had it for over 20 years & have made alot of other plants out of it! Just a couple weeks ago, I noticed an occasion leaf dropping. Then one day I bent over to take off a piece that didnt look so good and the whole branch just fell right off!! I was shocked!! The branch was about 1"-1/2" round, and it was, squishy. I have done nothing new to this plant except at the beginning of spring, transplanted it & cut it back. That was months & months ago! It did great after that, like it was saying "ahhhh, thanks for the hair cut!". Then, like I said, its dropping everything. I even separated it from the other plants. I looked at it this morning & almost cried-the main stalk, is all hung over & I know if I were to touch it, leaves would just drop. Can it just be old?? Something says no inside me, but, all its fledgings are doing well (unless I let them callous before planting-sure death!). Tomorrow, I am placing it in a plastic bag & taking it out to the garbage :( Ill soak the pot in boiling soapy water, just in case. This plant is older than my 20 yr old daughter!!! A sad day..... No bugs, no change in watering, bla bla. Sooo, sad & in mourning in California.

Reduce the watering if your soils constantly wet, don't be over confident with your nurturing of your jade and try to specify your exact problem with your very old plant. I find it interesting and cool when people own old plants that have been kicking around the house for years. scale is a bug that's very hard to see sometimes, you can scrape them off with your nail, they look like little bumps. re-pot your plant, perhaps the soils malnourished. you could also give your plant the brightest window/light in your house possible. watch out for cold and very hot drafts.

And judging from your photo, perhaps its time to re-pot your geriatric jade. the soil looks very dry too, your suppose to water it until its soaking wet and then let it dry out completely until the next time you water again.
