Read an old comment about Alocasia polly "dripping." I researched this plant several years ago when sketching for a jungle mural. It's native to the Amazon and the leaf's pointy tips are "drip tips" - as I understand it, that's how the plant funnels water from it's surface. I bought a plant shortly afer doing the research when it showed up in the local grocery store! Mine drips, I think, when it has plenty of water and doesn't when it doesn't. I keep mine in a mostly shaded porch from the time the night temps stay above 55 in spring to when they fall below that in late fall. It looks great in the summer, puts out new foliage and blooms a few times each summer. In the winter, typically the leaves droop, turn mushy and fall off 'til there are only 3 or 4 left and I think it is going to die (I keep winter temp in my house at 65)but about this time, nights begin to warm and it goes back outside and flourishes once again.

PS to A. polly: I water mine with rain water in the summer and used tap water in the winter! Maybe that's why the mushy and dying foliage when it comes indooors for the winter!
