i have noticed a lot of people water their indoor palms or plants with a cup of tap water every so often. problem is.. this leads to salt build ups in the soil and brown-tipping on the leaves.

my method for watering indoor palms is to put a layer of spaghnum moss on the soil to hold in moisture; then take the plant outside every two to three weeks and leech the soil. allow the water to completely drain for a few hours, then bring the plant back inside. you can also water with distilled water which is even better.

any other methods?

best,

I do agree that using is a very important acpect when watering plants due to the build up of salts and calcium, with the browning of tips of palms can also be caused by underwatering of the plant which looks the same as salt build-up. When watering, never allow the roots to sit in water. On the other end, do not allow the plant to dry out completely in between waterings either. This palm also prefers a slightly higher humidity level, so a daily misting will add plenty of beauty to your plant.

I would suggest to try watering it more often. When watering, water it until the water everytime until the water runs through, then dump excess water off and the browing should cease.
