I received this plant from my mothers funeral and would like to take proper care of it....could you tell me the name? thanks

I also recently received one from my brother's funeral. (Hopefully it's a hearty plant!)
From my research, it appears to be a Croton (Codiaeum variegatum pictum). According to MiracleGro's Complete Guide to Houseplants, it likes bright light and the soil slightly moist at all times.
