I have a houseplant that I just cannot seem to identify. The closest I can get is that I think it belongs to the sterculiaceae family possible a type of Dombeya. The main stem can become woody (tan) at the base but is generally green. It branches from the main stock and the the leaves are patterned around thes "sub" stocks in mostly an alternating pattern although it seems some are opposite as well. This stock to sub stock pattern continues. The leaves are on very long stems (petioles) and are reniform cordate to the best of my guess. Leaf margins are undulate and the leaf seems to be lobed without deep indentation. Veins are also palmate. The flowers then come from the end of these "sub" stocks. The flowers bloom in a simple umbrel pattern at the end of a very long stem. They are light pink with a darker coloration towards the base of each petal. There are five petals (each individual) and five sepals (each individual) on each flower in the unbrel, each petal in the shape of a hot air ballon :). Another key characteristic...the flowers are not fragrant, but just brushing any of the rest of the plant leaves a not so pleasant smell. It does not have a scent if not touched or bothered.

Thanks

might be a scented mint geranium, we have one at my school that smells kinda bad sometimes also. anymore detail about the smell?

I'm a highschool student, FFA member and officer, i have horticulture twice a day, and manage my school green house and i love it. I'm most likely going to college also for hort.
