I'd like to know some of the easily available, non-toxic, small plants of a rainforest-type origin suitable for a ten-gallon fish tank sized terrarium or vivarium. I'm thinking of maybe using silicone to stick some shelves on the back walls to grow plants on as well. Like I know there's pothos/devil's ivy, aluminum plant, small parlor palms, and English ivy, but English ivy isn't exactly rainforest-y. It will most likely remain just a terrarium for quite some time, because there aren't too many tree frogs or anything around here. I'm not even sure how well stocked the nurseries are, so please make sure you could find them at a florist or something... In fact, I got a mixed plant thingy from the florist, and I tried to identify some of the plants, but I only know that I have some pothos/devil's ivy, getting some peperomia, prayer plant, a small dracaena, and something that looks like Belgian evergreen (dracaena sanderiana??). I could probably get a spider plant too. Please help! And thanks in advance. =)

Oops! I forgot to mention that in the plant arrangement, I also have something that looks like a thin-leafed snake plant? (I call it snake plant, but I know it's not) and an arrowhead plant.

Everything will work well in it except for the Arrowhead plant because they don't like water on their leaves. When you build your Terrariums make sure like styles of plants with light demands are together because otherwise you will run into trouble in the long run. Also, watch the temperature inside the Terrariums because the more direct sunlight you have the more faster the inside of the Terrariums will warm up. Finally, make sure there is a hole in the top for excess heat to escape and for air circulation.

As for the plant types, much will depend on the light, here is a list:

(Low light plants)

Swedish ivy, Bird Nest Sansevieria

(Moderate light plants)

Philodendron, Irish moss, Ferns, Peperomia, Tahitian Bridal Veil, Palms, Fittonia, Prayer plant, Rattlesnake plantain, Spider plant, Aluminum plant, Artillery plant, Baby tears, Creeping fig, Cryptanthus, Pothos, Pitcher Plant & Butterwort

(Bright light plants)

Hypoestes, Oxalis, False Aralia, Peperomia, Asparagus fern, Venus fly trap & Sundew.
