i believe this plant is in the sansevieria species.
does anyone know the "nickname" (such as snake plant) for it? thanks. any help is appreciated.

it's just a short snake plant. that's as tall as it will get. i've heard it called a bird's nest plant. propegation is the same as it's full grown cousins either from divisions or leaf cuttings.
