I cant seem how to download a picture so I am going to try to explain my plant. On a trip to Disneyworld we stopped in Epcot and got this what it looked like was a 6" stick. It was a flowereing house plant. When we got home we planted this stick in cactus soil. Every summer it grows, and on top is has big palm tree type leaves (only on top) and it will produce about 5 or six pink type flowers. In the winter some leaves drop off. My question is it has grown to about 6ft stick. I want to trim it, but do I cut it on the top or from the bottom. And when do I cut it back.

Hi ~
It sounds like you may have a Madagascar Palm, one of my favorite plants. This link takes you to more info on it and a photo: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/interiorscape/Pachypodium_lameri.html
I have had two of these and managed to kill them both. One of them got to almost two feet high.
