HI, I'm new here and I'm hoping that someone will be kind enough to help me identify this plant. I have searched all up and down the net and in my plant books (all 2 of them) and I cannot find any information on it. The closet thing i have found to it it resembles the flower perfectly, but sadly their is no name attached to the image. Here is a link to the image http://images.mooseyscountrygarden.com/moosey-garden-forums/p/purple-flowers_710.jpgPlease help me to identify this plant and thank you for your assistance

This seems to be Glory of the Snow, Chionodoxa luciliae. This is kinda funny, since I just recently wrote a blog post on this and some similar flowers.

They look like snow crocus' to me. Very pretty. If they are bulbs, just remember to shake off the dirt and put them in slightly damn peat and store in a cool place for a few months and then you can replant them and enjoy the blooms for many seasons.

No, definitely no crocus. Also, I wouldn't bother with digging up the bulbs - in my experience, Glory of the Snow does just fine if left alone, spreading if it likes its location.

Yha it didn't have bulbs when i picked one, it had a very long pale root. It lived long enough to develop this weird little bulb where the flower used to be. I'm a complete newb when it comes to plants, but I'm trying..I have a spider plant that is doing pretty good =]
