I have a plant that grows on a stalk; kinda like a corn stalk. The leaves are only at the top and the plant has grown really tall. the leaves are narrow, but wider than a spider plant leaf and are green and yellow in color. The bottom of the stalk has begun to dry out but from the mid part to the top it still has life.
Can anyone help identify this plant and what I can do to save it. I have been caring for it for a number of years but never knew what it was or how to properly care for it and enhance growth.
Thanks in advance...Missy

Perhaps a corn plant "Dracaena"
A photo would be helpful!

Sounds like a Dracaena to me too.
If the stalk is drying out, the best course of action might be cutting off the top part and stick it in some water until it has grown roots, then pot it up again.

Hi Missy, Your plant is commonly called a Corn Plant. It's botanical name is Dracaena massangeana cane. Remove the dead leaves as they will not recover. It needs bright indirect light no more than 6 feet from an uncovered window. Water only when the top quarter of the soil feel dry. Don't repot it and fertilize it very sparingly. For much more complete information on its care contact me at me email address below and request my article on Corn Plant care.
