Hi everyone!
I'm trying to decide what to put in one of my half barrels outside.
I have a 3 foot pine in one. My son gave it to me a few years ago for mothers day. I put it in the barrel because I rent where I am and want to be able to take it with me when I move.
I have a second barrel I was thinking of putting a flowering tree in or shrub that will easily winter over in the barrel and continue to grown and flower for me.
Any suggestions?

I'm in growing zone 5a or 5b, if this helps. I was thinking of either starting a magnolia tree or growing a dwarf lilac in the other half barrel.. anyone.....

Rhododendrons are great choices or azaleas, perhaps hydrangea or a snowball bush. Tree peonies are great as-well! or perhaps a rose bush that's fairly large and bushy.

Okay I think I have it. I found info and beautiful pictures of a Butterfly Bush.
Flower Shrub Buddleia Lo & Behold Blue Chip: Dwarf Butterfly Bush Attracts Pollinators to Small Spaced Gardens.
This will get to be 2 - 3 meters tall and give me constant full fragrant blooms till frost. And it will attract humming birds and butterflies.
I'm in love before I even plant it.
